On Monday, the outdoor beer season was officially underway with spring warmth and sunshine in large parts of southern Norway.
But the meteorologist has discouraging news for everyone who is sick of winter and curses the cold: the snow is making an ever-so-small comeback in southern Norway.
– The cold air in northern Norway will creep further south in the next few days. At the same time, there is a small low pressure coming from the south. They meet around Eastern Norway and Southern Norway on Thursday and will bring precipitation in the form of snow.
This is what state meteorologist Marek Ratajczak at the Meteorological Institute tells VG.
– When does spring really come?
– There is a possibility that it will be considerably warmer at the weekend, but whether one should say that spring is here to stay is uncertain.
– So we should wait a bit before switching to summer tyres?
– If you haven’t changed already, then it’s probably a good idea to wait. If you have already changed, you should perhaps leave the car, says Ratajczak.
– But we can’t stand any more snow!
– I can understand that.
Weather sick week
Before it becomes proper spring, we have to get through the yo-yo weather in the month of April.
– It will be quite a wintry week throughout the country. It is a big contrast to the last few days, says Ratajczak.
The meteorologist also has good news for all beer-thirsty people out there: the sun will return at the weekend, and in large parts of the country it will also be warm. Hurray!
– Many in northern Norway will have several days of sunshine ahead, so people must dress warmly and wear sunglasses, says Ratajczak.
Both Central Norway and Western Norway will first experience cold and showers, before the sun peeks out until the weekend. It will be warmest in the south of the country, says the meteorologist.
– Are there possibilities for 20 plus degrees?
– We probably won’t quite get up to 20 degrees, but the conditions are right to get close to that, says Ratajczak.
