– The Ukrainians pay the price with their lives when the weapons are not delivered. And we will all pay a much higher price if Putin is not stopped, Stoltenberg said at a press conference with Zelenskyj, according to Dagens Næringsliv.

At the press conference, the NATO Secretary General was clear:

– NATO allies have not delivered what they promised, said Stoltenberg.

He added at the same time that it is not too late for Ukraine to win.

– We discussed how to strengthen support for Ukraine. I was also honest with Zelenskyj that allies in recent months have not delivered what we promised. The US has spent six months agreeing on an aid package and European allies have also failed to deliver what they promised. But now I am sure that NATO will deliver, said Stoltenberg.

– Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO

Zelenskyy repeated the message that they need air defense to defend against the Russians.

He also requested the alliance to include Ukraine as a full member.

– We deserve an invitation to NATO. The alliance should not be afraid of its own strength and depart from its own rules, just because Russia will condemn such actions, Zelenskyy said.

He also received a response from Stoltenberg:

– Ukraine’s rightful place is in NATO. Ukraine is going to become a member of NATO. When the time is right, Ukraine can become a NATO member immediately.

He also thanked Stoltenberg for his leadership and support for Ukraine.

This is the third Ukraine visit for Stoltenberg after the invasion on 24 February 2022.

– I know that serious delays have led to serious consequences, admits the Norwegian NATO summit.

– It is not too late for Ukraine to win. More help is on the way, he says further.
