The weather: – Disappointing news: – It may snow

– It looks like it will be a bit of winter again, says Marit Berger, meteorologist at the Meteorological Institute, to Dagbladet.

No, it’s not a bad April Fool’s joke. You just have to find the woolen clothes again, at least if you live in southern Norway. There may be snow on both Thursday and Friday this week.

– A low pressure is coming towards southern Norway and will bring some precipitation in the form of snow, and that is enough for it to settle down, says Berger.

Two low pressures in two days

The low pressure first arrives in Agder on the night of Thursday, before it moves upwards towards the central parts of Eastern Norway.

– But there will probably be some snow in parts of Western Norway as well, says Berger.

And it doesn’t stop there.

– Then there will be another low pressure on Friday which can bring more snow again, says Berger.

This low pressure is somewhat milder and coastal areas will therefore probably receive the precipitation as rain. According to the meteorologist, those who live where snow falls can expect that it will fall with a height of a couple of centimeters.

– I don’t think it will stay for long, at least not in the lowlands. In Oslo, for example, it may already be gone on Saturday, says Berger.

– No bright sun

In northern Norway it is generally still wintry.

– There are snow showers and low temperatures, and that will continue this week. The snow that gets there probably won’t disappear anytime soon, says Berger.

In central Norway it is also cooler this week.

– No, it won’t be 20 degrees and glorious sunshine for anyone in the next week, but the temperatures have an upward trend, assures Berger.

Milder times ahead

But if you are one of those who wait for spring, don’t despair. Next week, everyone in the country can expect milder temperatures than what it is this week.

– It is April, and it is spring. There may be sun or snow, or both. I see that the temperatures have a rising trend for all parts of the country in the period ahead, says Berger.

– Will this winter ever end?

– Spring can fool you a little, but it does. I feel quite confident about that, says Berger.
