Traffic accident, Bamble | One person seriously injured after a traffic accident

– The emergency services on their way to a traffic accident where a car with two people has driven off the road and into a stream. One in two people is unconscious. We are immediately on the scene, writes Sør-East Police District at 6.30pm on Maundy Thursday.

A short time later, it is reported that the emergency services are on the scene and that a person appears to be seriously injured. The other person should be slightly injured. None of them should be stuck.

It is further stated that there is major material damage and that traffic is at a standstill.

Transported to hospital

At 18.50, the police report that the two people have been taken out of the vehicle and are being looked after by the healthcare system. One will be transported to the hospital in Skien, while the other will be treated by health personnel on site.

The police do not yet have the identity of the two involved. They are now working to investigate the sequence of events.

– A light pole has been driven down at the site. We are contacting the energy supplier to secure the scene, write the police, who further state that the road is now closed.

The police’s task leader Bård Johansen tells Telemarksavisa that they have no suspicion of drunk driving and that they are now conducting both a technical and tactical investigation.

– What we know is that a car has arrived driving south. The car has lost control, driven into a rock wall, spun around and then ended up in the ditch in a small stream, Johansen explains to TA.

Accident group on the way

At 20:14, the police state that the accident team of the National Road Administration is on their way to the scene and that the road will remain closed until they have finished their investigations. The police also provide more information about those involved.

– A woman in her late teens was the driver of the car and a man in her late teens was a passenger. As of now, there is no suspicion of drug addiction, but due to the severity, a blood test will be taken to find out.

The road is reopened

The Europaveien south of Brevik has been closed following the accident.

A woman and a man in their late teens were injured when a car crashed on Europaveien in Telemark. The road is not far from the E18.

– Her condition was serious when she was transported away from the scene of the accident. The man’s injuries were minor, operations manager in the Southeast police district, Øystein Paus Eikedalen, told NTB on Thursday.

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s accident team arrived at the scene where the accident occurred shortly before 10 p.m. Earlier, the police had informed that a light pole had been knocked down.

The police received a report about the accident at 18:22. The operations manager has said that the police have some theories about what caused the accident, but did not want to share them on Thursday evening.

Neither of the two injured has been questioned after the accident.
