A man was injured on Thursday evening in a work accident on a ship in Austevoll in Vestland.

Friday 29 March at 01:38

– The accident happened at sea. We are on the boat to investigate the case, as it is a work accident, says operations manager Steinar Hausvik in the West police district to Bergensavisen.

The police were notified of the accident at 10.45pm on Thursday evening.

Bergens Tidende first wrote that the injured person was going to the Rikshospitalet in Oslo by helicopter. Just before 00:30, however, the main rescue center informed the newspaper that the helicopter had turned around, and was on its way to Haukeland hospital in Bergen. It has now landed there.

The extent of the man’s injuries is unknown.

The police continue to work on the ship overnight until Friday.

– We are still on the scene, on the boat and talking to those who are there and doing our investigations, says operations manager Hausvik to VG just before 01.30.

The police will not go into more detail about what happened.

– That is why we are on site, to investigate the matter, says Hausvik.
