The police were on Saturday evening in Møllergata, following a report of a violent incident.
– We are talking about a man who has been subjected to a serious incident of violence with a sharp object, says operations manager Øyvind Hammervold to Avisa Oslo.
At 21.45, task leader Tore Barstad confirms to NTB that there is a stabbing:
– There were two men who had been in a basket fight with another man and inflicted stab wounds on him, then they ran from the scene, he says.
Barstad says that they have seized a knife.
The stabbing man’s injuries are described as serious, but not life-threatening.
– The person is conscious and is under the supervision of health personnel, says Hammervold.
– We are now working to see if we can get witnesses at the scene and are searching for possible perpetrators, he adds.
The police have little information about the perpetrators, but say the two who ran from the scene were two men with North African appearance. They were seen running in the direction of Bernt Ankers gate towards Torggata.
– We are of course interested in getting in touch with witnesses who may have information about the case, says Barstad to NTB and adds:
– We do not know whether the occasion was inside the night club or at a nearby night club, but we believe the violent incident itself happened outside.
He emphasizes that it will take time to collect all the video evidence as a result of the number of nightclubs in the area.
The police cordoned off parts of the area outside the Revolver nightclub shortly after 9 p.m. In addition, the forensics department was on the scene.
15 minutes later they lifted the blockades.
Just before 9.30 p.m., the police reported that the man had been taken to hospital for treatment.
The police say they believe the incident happened outdoors.
– The initial report was that the victim was sitting on a bench, with the caveat that he may have moved, says Hammervold.
He also says that they have ended the search for perpetrators.
