Free speech, Expressions | No no no. Not now again

The title of this article reflects my immediate reaction when I read that Excenter AS, represented by Henrik Rød, is considering withdrawing its large Nordsiden project.

I sit with the newspaper page in front of me and look at the detailed and very interesting sketch of development projects in Kristian Augusts gate.

The entire project is designed in such a way that it fits perfectly into the surrounding buildings. It was particularly gratifying to be able to record that those who commented on the project were, without exception, very positive. It is not everyday food in Halden.

Then it happens that some people fear that the municipality here may miss out on income by the fact that the land price may be higher if it is put up for sale on the open market.

The developer basically only owns part of the plot on which it is to be built and wants to buy the neighboring plot. In the worst case, it could mean increased investment costs for the company that has drawn up the presented plans.

My attitude to further processing of the project is that we should not again experience that a great development plan is shelved. There are very few companies or private individuals who have the necessary knowledge and financial muscle to enter into such projects. We can now see what has happened to the Royal Palace when it got the right owner.

There are many vacant premises around the city. A few premises are vacant on the ground floor, but we look at buildings in the center and register vacant premises from the 2nd floor. and upwards, I would think there is quite a lot to choose from. In the building such as houses Kiwi on the south side, probably everything from the 2nd floor. and above available.

One of our very famous revue writers once stated that he refused to write anything unless he knew who was going to perform the text. It is probably something of the same idea that farm owner Espen Flyvholm works from. He has a huge poster in the window stating that the premises can be adapted to future user needs.

The fact that premises are empty for a long time cannot mean anything other than that it is a difficult market to handle. In other words, there is little demand for premises in the city centre.

If the municipality is to succeed in having its wish for densification of the city fulfilled, all parties must stand up on the offer side and take each other’s word seriously. The project of Harald Kynningsrud and Knut Johannesen on the South side came to a halt. Height meters for Østby’s project on Vaterland at the old battery factory are being discussed. Will it also stop?

Some also have plans to build an indoor football pitch in the Remmen area. Those who managed to overcome all attempts to be stopped were the tistdöllen who did not give up and who got their great hall in the end. Is this a case that the HA can take up and have put on the case map?
