– This is really a great recognition for us, and it means a lot more that we have received this award this year, says general manager of Pilares Eiendom, Thomas Børnich.

For over 20 years, Great Place To Work has investigated the working environment of 800 Norwegian businesses. The survey is conducted anonymously among the employees, where the goal is to gain insight that can be used to develop both culture and management in the businesses.

Pilares Eiendom has participated in the survey since 2022, and in this year’s award the property company is in first place in the category 10-50 employees. The company therefore tops the list across industries. The survey was carried out in December last year, when the 15 employees in the company answered anonymously questions related to the working environment.

In recent years, Pilares Eiendom, like many other companies in the property industry, has experienced a tough market. Therefore, general manager Thomas Børnich at Pilares Eiendom thinks that receiving this award this year means extra.

– Maintaining a strong corporate culture while the market around us is challenging has been an important focus area for Pilares, he says.

– Hard work is of course important for success, but it is also important to set aside time to celebrate achievements and success. This not only helps to recognize the efforts of our colleagues, but it also creates a strong community in the workplace, says Børnich.

He points out the importance of attracting and retaining good employees, as well as developing top competence internally.

– In Pilares, we have together created an environment where everyone feels included and has ownership of the company’s work. This has helped to minimize turnover, and ensure that everyone is happy and wants to stay. – Managers should learn to talk less and listen more. My colleagues have proven time and time again that if I give them responsibility and have confidence in their abilities, the company achieves so much more than if I made the decisions alone, says Børnich.

Although it is a great honor to go all the way to the top in the selection, he emphasizes that the results of the survey itself are the most important thing for them.

– It gives us the opportunity to make adjustments and changes that are important to all of us, so that we can create the best possible working day for everyone who works with us. Satisfied employees create good projects, which benefit our partners, customers and shareholders. We believe that by creating an environment where everyone feels valued, motivated and encouraged to reach their full potential, we are well equipped to face the future, says Børnich.
