Loreen (39) does not hold a grudge against the man who took to the stage and created full drama during her performance in Melodifestivalen on Saturday.

The Eurovision icon had to perform his song again after the first attempt ended in a standoff.

The climate activist who stormed the stage also made headlines outside Sweden’s borders. But Loreen shows understanding.

– I can’t say: “Why did you destroy my number”? That’s not how I’m made. As long as it went well in the end, I’m satisfied, says the pop artist to Aftonbladet.

See the drama on VGTV (the article continues below):

Four activists from the climate group “Restore Wetlands” were arrested by the police and removed from the arena shortly after the incident.

– I understand them, says Loreen, and adds that she thinks it is important that “people stand for something and dare to say what they think”.

– I understand exactly that part, says the 39-year-old, who himself is known to be concerned with nature.

Just dialed her number

Among the activists was David Alcer (27), a doctoral student at Lund University. There he researches solar cells. Alcer was the only one of the four who succeeded in making it all the way onto the stage, although all four tried.

– I can understand that some viewers were upset that Loreen’s number did not go as planned, he says to Aftonbladet.

He explains why they chose Loreen’s performance in particular.

– She is a very brave and inspiring person, he says.

– We are on our way into climate hell, and we must do everything we can to avert the worst disaster, adds the 27-year-old.

The Malmö police inform Swedish newspapers that they are investigating the case, to find out whether the campaigners have been guilty of breaking the law.

After performing the song “Tattoo” again, Loreen secured a place in the final.

– Oh, my God, said a crying Loreen when the result was clear.

Loreen, or Lorine Zineb Noka Talhaoui as she is actually called, will compete against, among others, Norwegian Marcus & Martinus in Melodifestivalen on 11 March.

The Norwegian twin duo continued to sing in the Swedish MGP two weeks ago.

11 years have passed since Loreen secured Sweden’s victory in the Eurovision Song Contest in Baku, Azerbaijan.

In 2017 she tried again, but that time she was knocked out in the second chance.

The dolphin final was the fourth in a row, before the Swedes organize the semi-final on March 4.

Sweden in the lead

Ukraine has been the Eurovision favorite until now. At the weekend, however, Sweden snuck past on Oddschecker. Ukraine is now in second place, followed by Finland in third and Norway in fourth.

That Sweden is high on the betting itself before the final the entry has been selected, is connected to the fact that Sweden is the country that has won the second most times (six) in the Eurovision Song Contest – after Ireland (seven).
