– Film is no longer the pinnacle of the social, cultural hierarchy, as it has been for most of our lives, says Jerry Seinfeld to the magazine GQ ahead of the premiere of the comedy “Unfrosted” on Netflix on 3 May.

– When a film premiered, everyone went and saw it if it was good. We discussed it, quoted lines and scenes we liked. Now it’s like we’re walking through a fire hose of water and trying to see, claims Seinfeld, who claims that confusion and disorientation run rampant in the entertainment industry today.

– Everyone I know in show business asks every day “What’s going on? How do you do this? What are we supposed to do now?”, says Jerry Seinfeld in the interview, which is quoted by Variety, among others.

– Completely new

The TV veteran is full of admiration for the collaborators he met during the recording of “Unfrosted”. Seinfeld wrote the screenplay, directed, co-stars alongside Melissa McCarthy and Amy Schumer, and serves as a producer.

– It was completely new to me. I thought I had done some really cool stuff myself, but it was nothing compared to the way these people work. They are incredibly serious, but have no idea that the film business is finished, claims Seinfeld – who was recently seen in the closing episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” on TV.

Rival companies

According to Netflix, “Unfrosted” tells the story of the 1960s fierce battle between two rival companies over a revolutionary pastry, called the Pop-Tart, at a time when milk and cereal ruled breakfast.

Seinfeld and McCarthy play Kellogg’s executives while Schumer is the boss of Post, the fiercest cereal competitor. Hugh Grant is also on the cast list, along with two more stand-up celebrities, Fred Armisen and Jim Gaffigan.
