The two upcoming concerts with Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp in Norway have been canceled, after a band member has been diagnosed with corona.

– Tomorrow’s concert at Sentrum Scene has therefore been canceled, but a new concert will be set up on the same day as the planned extra concert on July 2, Sentrum Scene wrote in a press release on Thursday.

VG announced later on Thursday that the band will also be absent from the Tahiti festival in Kristiansund. The festival director stated that the Hellbillies will take Jeff Beck’s place.

Receives threats

The reactions from disappointed concertgoers have not been long in coming, and some have been of the less pleasant kind.

Festival director Thomas Ingebrigtsen at the Tahiti festival says that he has received threats after the Depp cancellation.

– I received some threats by e-mail last night, yes, he says.

Ingebrigtsen says that among other things, someone threatened him with beatings.

The Requirement of the Times was the first to report this.

To Good evening Norway, Ingebrigtsen emphasizes that he will not report the threats.

– Most have shown understanding for the situation, but then there are a few who have probably had a little much in per mille. I understand that people are frustrated, but there is a limit. And these people probably understand that even when they wake up today, he says,

He states that the worst messages ticked in on Friday night.

– No refunds

By the way, both the organizer and festival participants are disappointed with the cancellations, and on Friday morning there were close to 100 comments on a post on the festival’s Facebook page. Here they report that both Jeff Beck and Smokie have been canceled.

“Those who have bought tickets have bought a one-day festival pass that applies to all today’s concerts. It is unfortunately the case for all festivals in the world that if an artist falls out, one must find a replacement. We are incredibly clear thanks to the goodwill of the whole of music Norway. The festival world would have collapsed if all the canceled concerts had to be refunded, and the same goes for the Tahiti festival. Unfortunately, this is what happens, and the fact that we get 2 cancellations at 1 festival is of course incredibly sad for everyone who has been looking forward to seeing their favorite artist. “

During the post, there are many who show understanding for the situation, but several are also very disappointed.

“Such a festival often costs several thousand for those who are visitors. Is just incredibly upset when a world star you have dreamed of seeing since childhood being replaced by a Norwegian country band. Hoping for more goodwill and understanding that this does not feel like a replacement for many of us », is there someone who writes.

“So I’ll just give you 1200 plus travel and hotel for an item you do not deliver?” writes another.

– Come and enjoy yourselves!

Now Ingebrigsten would like to say a big thank you to Music Norway who has contributed with help over the last 24 hours.

– Smokie was unfortunately hit by the air strike in England. It’s boring, but now half of music-Norway has thrown everything they have in their hands to help us find replacements, he says. We have managed that, thanks to good help. Now we just want to encourage people to come and enjoy the festival. We have lots of good artists, and glorious sunshine has been announced, says Thomas.

On Friday, it became known that Hellbillies replaces Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp, and Ingebrigtsen now says that Ulf Risnes with band steps in for Smokie.

Two Oslo concerts on the same day

The concert that was supposed to be with Jeff Beck and Johnny Depp at Sentrum Scene on Friday, has been moved to July 2. This is the same day as the band’s extra concert, and Beck and Depp thus go on stage in Oslo twice the same day.

Organizer Peer Osmundsvaag in All Things Live did not respond to our inquiries on Friday.
