Belarus began an inspection of equipment for tactical nuclear weapons on Tuesday, the country’s Ministry of the Interior says.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has ordered an unscheduled inspection of infrastructure related to tactical nuclear weapons, says a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus. Lukashenko ordered the inspection a day after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a new nuclear drill.

It is not yet known when the exercise will take place.

The inspection in Belarus aims to test “planning, preparation and use of tactical nuclear warheads,” according to the Interior Ministry. A squadron of Su-25 aircraft will also be inspected.

Belarus has no nuclear weapons of its own, but last year it agreed with Russia to store Russian nuclear weapons on its territory.

Putin has stepped up his rhetoric about nuclear weapons in connection with the war in Ukraine, and last year the country withdrew from a disarmament agreement with the United States.
