On Friday 3 April, brothers Jake (30) and Callum Robinson (33) from Australia, as well as American Jack Carter Rhoad (30), were found dead in the state of Baja California, in the north of Mexico.

The alarm was first raised on April 27, when the three friends had not turned up at an Airbnb they had rented.

New details: Shot in the head

Six days later, they were all found at the bottom of a 15 meter deep well – all with gunshot wounds to the head.

The discovery site is referred to as a “deserted part of Santo Tomas”, which is said to be difficult to get to.

Four corpses

A fourth body is also said to have been found in the well, but the person in question is said to have been there for a long time. The police therefore do not link the person to the triple murder.

According to Mexican police, the tourists were probably killed by three local residents, two men and one woman, during an attempted robbery at the beach of San Miguel, where the friends were camping.

The theory is that the perpetrators wanted to steal their friends’ pickup truck, specifically the tires. When the three men resisted, they were shot, said Maria Andrade in the prosecutor’s office, quoted by Sky News.

Shot and dumped

On Friday, the pickup was found burned out. The female suspect had one of the victims’ cell phones on her when she was arrested. The men are said to have been in possession of methamphetamine.

The last voice message

According to Australian News, Jake Robinson, who worked as a doctor in Perth, had flown to the United States two weeks earlier to visit his older brother Callum.

Before the surfing trip to Mexico, they should have been to the Coachella festival in California.

Callum Robinson had moved to the United States with his girlfriend Emily Horwath to pursue a professional lacrosse career.

She has now shared what is supposed to be the last voice message she received from her boyfriend. On Tuesday, she shared the heartbreaking sound with her followers in an Instagram story. Now it can be found in the “Highlights” function.

“Good Tuesday, good morning! It’s 11.11 and I’m thinking of you. Just wanted to send you a quick message to say: Hi baby, hope your day is off to a great start. For some reason, I feel like you have a big smile on your face today. I hope you are full of positivity and laughter. Cheers, baby. I miss you.”

She published the audio message together with the text: “Want to play this non-stop”.

– The sea outside Australia awaits

The brothers’ parents held a press conference on Tuesday on a beach in San Diego, USA. There they stated that their “hearts were art and that the world had become a dark place”.

– They were young men who loved to surf together. Jake’s passion was surfing, and it was no coincidence that several of the hospitals he worked at were near surfing beaches, said mother Debra Robinson.

She also paid tribute to the brothers’ late friend, Jack Carter Rhoad. She also said that the ashes of both sons will be transported back to Australia.

Was pulverized: New catastrophe theory

– Live bigger, shine brighter and love harder […] Now it’s time to bring them home to family and friends. The sea off Australia awaits.

Anthony Albanese, Australia’s prime minister, said on Tuesday he had asked for an opportunity to speak to Debra Robinson and her husband Martin.

– This is a terrible tragedy and I offer my condolences, said Albanese.
