(Ostlands-Posten): After the Iranian regime’s attack on Israel, it became clear that the Iranian people did not support the regime’s actions. Several prominent Iranians, including the former national soccer captain, condemned the attack and emphasized the divide between the regime and the people.

Nobel laureate Shirin Ebadi, the Association of the Families of the Victims of Flight PS 752, and former Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi all condemned the attack, stressing that “the military adventures of the Iranian regime do not take civilian lives into account.” The spread of this popular resistance was so great that it attracted the attention of both the Israeli authorities and the regime of Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) published a statement stressing that: “Our fight is with the Iranian regime, not with the people of Iran.” Iranian authorities announced that they would deal with any response to the attack “swiftly and severely.” They also tried to suppress information about popular resistance.

Defends aggressive behavior

In Norway, NRK broadcast the news about the attack on TV and on its website. Something was also published under the title “anti-Israeli demonstrations in Tehran”, but without mentioning which groups and individuals were involved. NRK published news about the attack, but without mentioning the widespread resistance from the Iranian people.

The coverage also included interviews with people of Iranian origin who supported the regime. The way this news was referred to in the Norwegian media had another dimension, and that was to give a platform to people who have Iranian origins, and who help to publish propaganda about the most radical currents that support the Iranian regime in non-Persian Media.

Social debater Diana Adampour defends aggressive behavior with the same words as the Iranian regime.

Her constant insistence that the Islamic regime has the “right” to defend itself against the attack on the consulate building in Damascus is similar to the same words that the leader and commanders of the Iranian regime tried to justify in their hostile attack by firing some 320 missiles and drones into Israel.

Perhaps Adampour considered oppression and killing “right”?

Adampour has achieved celebrity status in Norway. We do not see any reactions from her side on social media or the media about the murders, rapes and repressions carried out by the regime in Iran. Perhaps Adampour also considered the repression and killing of the Iranian people as “right” for the regime against the protesters?

It is interesting that Adampour also traveled to Iran in December 2023. Traveling to Iran, especially after the 2022 protests, has become risky, even for those Iranians who were not very active in anti-regime gatherings outside of Iran.

After the start of the conflict between Israel and Gaza, she believed in the racist approach in the Norwegian media. Therefore, her motivation for the trip to Iran was that she wanted to follow the news about conflicts from inside Iran.

Although in the case NRK has published, some short lines have also been written from an Iranian who are close to what the Iranian people generally talk about, the question becomes how can media platforms in a free country with freedom of speech be used to reflect the propaganda of a criminal regime ?

A regime that shoots protesters and opponents in the streets within Iran’s borders, leads terrorist groups and militias in the Middle East, does not hesitate to support Putin’s warfare in Ukraine, and holds European and American citizens hostage for its political purposes.

This does not mean freedom of speech, but is actually a mockery of the concept of freedom of speech.

A new chapter

The April 13 attack on Israel from inside Iran’s territory revealed a new chapter of the Islamic regime’s aggressive military policy. Iranians protested the actions and this was a major defeat for the regime with its extremely fragile legitimacy within Iran’s borders.

The confrontation between the regime and Israel began in the first years after the revolution of 1979. In this way, the anti-Semitism of the religious and ideological leaders was not only in the propaganda apparatus, but also in the education system in Iran. Generations of Iranians, who from the first day of school must learn the slogan “down with Israel” along with “down with America and England”, and sing it every day.

The effort to integrate the ideology into Iranian life is ongoing on a daily basis, but the Iranian regime is now confronting Israel directly.

Basically, the regime faces a society that condemns the actions. At the same time, Iranian society condemns any warfare, this is not the war of the Iranian people, it is the war of the Islamic regime, with which most Iranians are also at war.

The attack on Israel marked a new chapter in the Iranian regime’s aggressive military policy, but the attack was also met with strong opposition from the Iranian people. This resistance shows that the regime does not represent the Iranian people and that a peaceful future is possible.

The Iranian people’s opposition to the regime’s attacks on Israel is a clear signal that they do not support the regime’s aggressive policies.

International media must stop ignoring or trivializing this resistance and instead give it a clear voice. Only by supporting the Iranian people’s struggle for freedom and peace can we hope for a better future for Iran and the Middle East.
