Just days after the sweeping rape conviction against Harvey Weinstein was overturned, one of Hollywood’s most powerful men has been hospitalized.
– They examined him and sent him to Bellevue. It seems like he needs a lot of help, physically. He has many problems. He gets all kinds of tests, says Weinstein’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala. Bellevue Hospital is located in Manhattan.
– He is a bit of a train wreck in terms of health.
The accusations against Weinstein have been over 100 and central to the metoo movement.
He was sentenced in New York in 2020 to 23 years in prison for the rape of a young production assistant and a young actor in 2006 and 2013 respectively.
It is this case that the court must now decide on again. According to the court, the error was that the prosecution called several women as witnesses, and that these also accused Weinstein of rape. However, these accusations were never part of the indictment the court had to consider.
The Court therefore concluded that Weinstein did not receive a fair trial.
