A total of around 50 Bama employees will therefore be affected by layoffs over the next few months.
– It is not a funny message to receive, but at the same time we were well prepared that this would come. It didn’t really come as a shock, says shop steward Lars Erik Bråten at Hvebergsmoen Potetpakkeri to the local newspaper Glåmdalen.
The facilities at Lågen and Hvebergsmoen are year-round packing plants for potatoes. It is these facilities that are affected.
1,200 lose their jobs
The stocks are soon completely empty at Lågen potetpakkeri and more potatoes will not arrive for quite some time. This means that the employees will be laid off for the whole of April and March in Nordland.
Hvebergsmoen has to lay off 35 employees when the factory closes completely from June and through the summer.
