The new comedy series from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) «MILF of Norway» will be released on the streaming service Max when it launches in Norway and a number of other European countries on 21 May.

It’s an actor Marianne Hole who plays the main character Lene in the series, and can therefore become the whole of Europe’s “MILF”. To Kampanje, she “regrets” the title of the series.

– Pardon. Don’t google it. You must not do that. Then a lot of strange things come up, says Hole with a laugh.

Campaign meets Hole during the Max launch on Monday evening.

– But you’re the one playing the MILF?

– Yes I do. It’s a very good script written by Cathinka Nicolaysen and Christian Owe with Rune Langlo directing, says Hole, who describes the series as both dark and funny.

MILF is a slang term which is basically an acronym, but which is mainly used to describe an attractive middle-aged woman.

– Dream project
Hole has, among other things, the Viaplay series Wisting and Made in Oslo in addition to the TV 2 series Ammo on the CV. Now she can also add that she has played a MILF.

– What did you think when you got the offer to play a MILF?

– I must honestly admit that I thought that this was a role I would like to see in the series, but perhaps not so keen to play, says Hole and continues:

– But it turned out to be a dream project. It’s a bit scary to have passed 40 and be all of Norway’s MILF, but the series is much more than just the title.

Will be dubbed into several countries
Hole plays against Trond Fausa in the series which lasts over eight episodes.

– It will be shown in several markets. What do you think about it?

– It has become a little bigger than the starting point, and it’s fun. It will be dubbed into different countries so it’s exciting. You never quite know what you’re in for, says Hole.

– You don’t mind if the series is shown in a bigger market than Norway?

– No, I think it’s great fun, says Hole.

– A pointed title
Magnus Vatn, responsible editor at TVNorge and program director at WBD says that he believes that the series will go beyond the Norwegian market. He currently does not have figures on exactly how many other countries the series will be available in.

– The series tells about a need to be seen, which I think is quite universal. In addition, it is played out as a comedy, says Vatn to Kampanje.

– It is a pointed title, but you can see that there is something more behind it, he continues.

When Vatn spoke to the participants of the Max launch on Monday, he was proud to be able to send the series out into an international market.

– We think it’s great that a Norwegian-produced series is going out in the Nordics and all of Europe, so we’ll see where it eventually goes next. We see many big international titles here. We get them, but now we also get the chance to show how good Norwegian producers are and that we can get titles out into the world.
