In the morning hours on Thursday, there was hardly a flight over southern Norway. A technical error at the Oslo Control Center must be the reason the airspace is temporarily closed.

This means that for quite a few travelers today will be different than one might have thought – and hoped.

The Consumer Council has taken a closer look at what rights you have as a passenger today.

According to Thomas Iversen, consumer lawyer, such incidents can be resolved quickly. He answers three main questions for today’s air passengers:

1. What should I do if I am flying today?

– If you are going out to fly today, you must prepare as if the flight is going as normal. This includes traveling to the airport as planned, writes Iversen in an email to Aftenposten.

2. What am I entitled to if the flight is delayed?

– You are entitled to information from your airline en route, and if the delay is sufficiently long, you are entitled to free food and drink during the waiting period.

3. Am I entitled to compensation for the purchased ticket?

– Check which rights you have on the Consumer Council’s flight rights calculator. Remember that an event like this will soon be a circumstance that exempts the airlines from paying standardized compensation, but all other rights apply as usual.
