Two-year-old found dead after nine months – Now the family reacts

The boy, who was only two years old at the time, disappeared from his grandparents’ home on 8 July last year in the town of Haut-Vernet, located in the south-east of France.

Émile Soleil was playing in the garden while the grandparents were getting the car ready for the trip.

Here Émile disappeared without a trace.

Since then, there have been major searches for the little boy.

But on Saturday 30 March someone found a skull during a walk. Investigation has since established that it originated from Émile Soleil.

It is not yet clear what has happened to the little boy. Further investigation must now try to determine that.

It is therefore planned to dig further in the area where the skull from the two-year-old was found, it says.

On Sunday morning, Easter Sunday, the family of Émile Soleil was notified of the discovery. According to Le Parisien, it happened when they were at an Easter service.

Émile’s family in particular are very religious, and although the loss of their son has now been officially confirmed, the lawyer explains that they find some comfort in the fact that his mortal remains were found during the Easter holidays.

The parents believe that “Émile is watching over them in the light of God on this Resurrection Sunday,” says a statement from the family’s lawyer, who is speaking for the parents.

At the same time, Émile’s parents, Marie and Colomban, thank the many people who have helped them in the last almost nine months.

And then they ask the press to calm down, as “the pain and grief is still great”, it says.
