If you’ve been holding your breath for more Redfall content since its disastrous launch a year ago, you may be holding your breath pretty soon. Microsoft and Xbox have announced the shocking news that they will shut down four unique studios, including Redfall developer Arkane Austin and Hi-Fi Rush creator Tango Gameworks.

Arkane Austin has taken to social media to confirm this news, adding that Redfall will not be developed further, that players who purchased the game’s Hero Pass or premium Bite Back Edition or Bite Back upgrade will be eligible for a refund, and that Arkane Lyon will remain unaffected and will continue to work on their upcoming projects such as Marvel’s Blade. As for Redfall, the servers will remain active going forward, but for how long remains to be seen.

Tango Gameworks has also confirmed this report in a statement posted on X, adding that the games will “remain playable everywhere they are today.”

It is said that both Alpha Dog Games (Mighty Doom) and Roundhouse Games (a support studio) are also shutting down, and that the latter will be incorporated into ZeniMax Online Studios.

Alpha Dog has released its own statement noting that Mighty Doom will not survive this purge and that the game will shut down on August 7th. Players can no longer purchase and acquire in-game currency with real money.

It is currently unknown how many developers are affected, and what the future holds for the IP that was under development by the affected studios. Expect to hear more soon.
