Sonos’ first ever wireless headphones are expected to launch sometime in the coming weeks. But the photos of them have already leaked, discussed by The Verge, among others.

They will reportedly be called Sonos Ace, and the images show a pair of black headphones with a number of buttons on the bells.

In a Reddit thread, what may appear to be an early mention of the headphones also appears on the company’s own website. Then in the form of a proposal that appeared in the search field.

According to Schuurman, the German retailer of Sonos parts that has apparently published the pictures too soon, the gilt will cost just over 400 euros – something over NOK 4,700.

The images were available on Schuurman’s pages with the headphones listed, but these have since been removed.

Delayed launch

The headphones are said to be delayed due to issues related to the software.

According to earlier rumors, the Sonos headphones should also be able to offer some form of integration with the rest of the Sonos system – potentially over WiFi.

It potentially also opens up a much higher sound quality than what is technically possible with bluetooth.

Bluetooth streaming is currently limited to approximately 1,200 kbit/sec (with new Aptx Lossless), while streaming over WiFi could potentially multiply that number.

In addition to the headphones, Schuurman is said to have also listed the Sonos Roam 2, which is rumored to be a follow-up to the Roam portable speaker. This is also expected to be launched in the coming months.

There is little information to glean from the image of the Roam 2, as the design is virtually identical to the first generation.
