Wednesday 8 May at 20:51The Italians had a 3-2 lead from the first match and are thus ready for the final in the conference league with a 4-3 victory on aggregate.
Hugo Vetlesen started the match for Brugge and picked up a yellow card before being substituted after 70 minutes. Antonio Nusa started on the bench, but came on after 86 minutes.
Bruges got off to a dream start to the game when Maxim De Cuyper put the hosts in the lead after 20 minutes. Thus, it was also equal between the teams.
Unfortunately for the Belgians, they conceded a penalty with just five minutes left on the clock. It knocked Beltran into the nets behind Simon Mignolet.
In overtime, Brugge player Denis Odoi was sent off with his second yellow card.
In the first match, it was Riccardo Sottil, Andrea Belotti and M’Bala Nzola who secured a 3-2 victory for Fiorentina at home. Hans Vanaken and Igor Thiago scored Brugge’s goals.
Earlier in the tournament, Brugge beat Molde (4-2 on aggregate) and PAOK (3-0). In the second semi-final match on Thursday, Olympiakos and Aston Villa meet. The Greeks have a 4-2 lead from the first away match.
