Toone was the player of the month

Ella Toone’s performances in April were recognized with the Manchester United Women’s Player of the Month award. This is her third award this season.

Ward is leaving Aston Villa

Aston Villa have announced that Carla Ward is stepping down as head coach of Aston Villa’s women’s team after this season.

Ward joined Aston Villa from arch-rival Birmingham City in 2021. In May last year, she signed a contract until the 2024/25 season, but now the 40-year-old has decided to give up.

Ward describes quitting Aston Villa as the toughest decision she has made in her managerial career, and also says:

– I think this is the right time for me to prioritize other important things – such as my daughter and the rest of my family life.

United won 2-1 in both games against Aston Villa this season.

Three defeats in a row for Tottenham

On Thursday night, Tottenham lost for the third game in a row. Chelsea won 2-0 at home at Stamford Bridge after goals from Trevoh Chalobah and Nicolas Jackson.

The result means that Spurs are still six points ahead of United, and now with the same number of games played. If United win their last four games, then they still need three more point losses from Tottenham due to the difference in goal difference, so it will probably be difficult to get past anyway. Chelsea are otherwise three points behind United now – with a better goal difference.

Below you can see the highlights from the match:

The U21 team national champions

The Manchester United women are ready for another FA Cup final, and things are growing well in the ranks behind Lisa Naalsund & co. On Wednesday, the club’s U21 team won the national final against Arsenal’s U21 team 3-1.

Manchester United

Melissa Brown’s girls took the lead early in the match, but Arsenal equalized after just over an hour. However, two late goals for United ensured that United won the match 3-1 and could celebrate the title.

Say no to Bayern

Ralf Rangnick has been national team manager for Austria after he was United’s interim manager for the second half of the 2021/22 season. The German was strongly wanted to take over as Bayern Munich coach after Thomas Tuchel, but Rangnick has turned down the big German club, writes the major German newspaper Bild.

From before, Xabi Alonso and Julian Nagelsmann have also resigned to Bayern to continue in their respective jobs as Leverkusen manager and German national team manager.
