The Italian biathlete profile Dorothea Wierer continues at the top level and aims for the Olympics on home soil in 2026.

She stated this at a digital press conference on Wednesday.

– I have just decided, together with the association and my coaches, that I still have it in me. I want to continue until the Olympics in 2026, said Wierer at the press conference, according to NRK.

– It would be a shame to end your career in this way, she continued.

At the press conference, she also dealt with the rumors that have abounded in social media.

– I try not to read too much of social media, but sometimes it’s impossible. There have been many people who have said that I have been pregnant, that I don’t have it in me anymore or that I am doing it for the money. Some have also said that I only do this to be on TV. All in all, I am an athlete and I always do my best in what I do, says Wierer.

The Italian comes from a disappointing season, where a 10th place in the mixed relay was the best result during the winter WC. After the championship, she chose to end the season.

Now she is nevertheless determined to continue her career, and the focus is on the Olympics on home ground in Milan/Cortina in 2026.

– It will be very tough. But I will do what I can to be prepared, she said, according to Dagbladet.
