The super veteran is a guest in this week’s episode of RB sport, which was recorded at Aker Stadium. There he makes very clear reflections on the culture he believes is developing among some of the football supporters.
– When little kids stand and scream that they hate Trondheim or that Trondheimers hate Molde city, I don’t like that. We mustn’t bring hatred into the sports arena when we see what hatred can lead to in the wider world, says Hareide ahead of Saturday’s big game against Rosenborg at Aker Stadium.
– This is a bad omen. I have been around and seen hooliganism in England, and know what it can lead to. I was in Poland and met Ukraine now with more police than people in the stands. That’s not how we should have it. We must have great patriotism, but not hatred. It doesn’t work. It takes a lot before you can hate people, says a very committed Hareide who is now national team manager for Iceland.

Eggen and Rekdal
He tells of a banner with gross personal hatred that he refused the RBK supporters to hang up at Lerkendal when he himself was Rosenborg coach.
And he reminisces about the famous newspaper report in Romsdal’s Budstikke before a match against Rosenborg in the 90s, which he later regretted.
