Borrowed Jadon Sancho starred in Dortmund’s first Champions League semi-final against Paris Saint-Germain, and received much praise after the 1-0 victory.

On Tuesday evening, it was ready for the return match in Paris, and again Sancho caused trouble on a number of occasions for PSG – although the development of the match this time meant that Dortmund did not put PSG under pressure in the same way as last time.

Veteran Mats Hummels sent Dortmund into the lead in the 50th minute (2-0 on aggregate) and Sancho was substituted in the 67th minute when he was replaced by a defender – there was no doubt that the plan was to close again.

Dortmund managed that (albeit with some help from the posts), and they will thus play the Champions League final at Wembley on 1 June. Finals promotion also brings money into the coffers for United as part of the Sancho loan deal.

Opponents at Wembley will be the winner of Wednesday’s match between Real Madrid and Bayern Munich (where it is 2-2 after the first leg).

Ex-ed Marcel Sabitzer played the whole match for Dortmund.

Marcel Sabitzer and Jadon Sancho both started for Dortmund as they qualified for the Champions League final.
