After the 4-2 victory over Tottenham, it has been turbulent around Darwin Nunez, even though the striker was only on the field for 20 minutes of that match. As usual, the Uruguayan came to his chances, but synonymous with his two seasons at Anfield, the opportunities were abused.

A few hours after the game, the Liverpool striker chose to remove all of his Liverpool photos on Instagram, which caused social media to boil over on Monday morning. He also chose to block several of the biggest social media accounts that write and have opinions about the club.

At the same time, the goals are rolling in for Luis Suarez in the Inter Miami kit. On the night of Sunday, there were three more goals, and one of them marked his 500th career goal. The former Liverpool striker posted it on Twitter/X, and in the comment section Nunez had just left a comment: “My big idol”, writes the 24-year-old.

Suarez, who has probably learned what has happened to his team-mate in the national team in recent days, responded with a couple of positive words:

“You’re always here for me, scorer. Thank you very much! Remember to always be positive and look forward,” Suarez wrote back.

Nunez has been on the radar of most English supporters and the English press ever since he arrived at Liverpool back in 2022. In the same summer, Erling Haaland also arrived, which in the end, by comparison, the Uruguayan probably did not benefit from.

After a series of misses and misused chances, he was also ridiculed on social media, although there were actually 15 goals in all competitions in his debut season.

This season he has undoubtedly had a good development, even if the wasting of chances has continued with him. At the time of writing, he has 31 goal points in all competitions, six fewer than leader Mohamed Salah.

According to Liverpool.no writer David Lynch, the club will consider him towards the summer transfer window.

“If Liverpool want to be the best team in Europe again – and that is the aim of Fenway Sports Group – then it is not possible to ignore such a player. Liverpool’s approach is likely to be dictated by interest in the transfer market and whether anyone is willing to offer anything close to the sum paid to Benfica for Nunez,” he wrote in this week’s commentary.
