Welsh Wrexham have enjoyed huge success after Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club back in 2021.
Recently, Wrexham secured promotion to League One – 19 years since the team last played in the division.
Shocks England
But shortly after promotion was sealed, a brutal message came from Wrexham.
On their own website, it was announced that a total of eight players, several of them key profiles, have finished with the club.
The announcement came at the same time as the team celebrated promotion, the club’s second in as many years, in Las Vegas, reports the major newspaper Independent.
Luke Young and Ben Tozer are among the players who have not had their contracts renewed, and thus have to go club hunting this summer.
Young has been an important piece at Wrexham since 2018, while Tozer has been the club’s captain.
– Two sensational departures, writes the Independent.
These eight players are confirmed to have finished at Wrexham:
- Luke Young
- Ben Tozer
- Aaron Hayden
- Rob Lainton
- Callum McFadzean
- Jordan Tunnicliffe
- Owen Cushion
- Dan Davies
Little Wrexham has received a lot of attention after the acting duo Reynolds and McElhenney became part owners of the club. The Wrexham adventure has even become a lucrative TV series.
