Frisk Asker will have canceled the match after an organizing error ahead of Storhamar’s 3-3 scoring. The TV images clearly showed that lights flashed around Frisk Asker’s goal to mark for scoring. This light is controlled by the secretariat. The explanation was that the puck ended up on the outside of the net on the first occasion, but ended up a few seconds later to Stefan Espeland who scored.
Frisk Asker believes that goalkeeper Mitch Gillam was blinded by the first flash of light.
– The rules are clear: An organizer error that affects the final result must be dealt with in the protest committee, and we expect the Norwegian Ice Hockey Association to address that and not just turn a blind eye. They have to deal with that, Johansen told TV 2 on Monday.
Frisk Asker lost the match 3-5 after leading 3-2 with less than four minutes remaining.
– The protest was not dealt with on the merits due to several formal errors. Frisk Asker, on the other hand, has the opportunity to send the case on to the appeal committee, says ice hockey president Tage Pettersen to NTB.
– On a general basis, I will use the episode in Hamar to remind the play-off clubs to sharpen all their senses and deliver good match events going forward, concludes the president.
