Over a long period of time, at least one official song has been created in connection with a football championship

Many may remember “Waka waka” (Shakira) from the 2010 WC, or perhaps “We are the one” (Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez) from the WC in Brazil in 2014.

In any case, the point is that this summer’s EC in Germany will not be an exception to the singing rule, which has colored championships for a number of years.

– An awful lot of hate

The EC song will be performed by the artists Leony, Meduza and One Republic, and is scheduled to be released during the spring.

So the song hasn’t come out, but:

To the dismay of one of the artists, it has already allegedly been received with slaughter.

In an Instagram video, the German pop star Leony takes the blade from her mouth. She believes that the inbox has been cleaned out, and several people have reacted that the song is not sung in German.

– Thank you very much for your many sweet messages, but I have also received an awful lot of hate. Could it be different? I think there are things you fundamentally do not understand, and I will try to explain them to you, Leony begins.

– Many other countries will participate

The artist elaborates:

– Firstly: the EC is the same as the EC and not the German championship. Many other countries will participate in this tournament, for example France, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic and many other countries where German is simply not spoken, she says and continues:

– Why should the official song of this whole EC tournament be in German, so that everyone else wouldn’t understand it?

In the video, several people have come to support the German.

Slaughtered in new book

UEFA announced the artist lineup for the song already in December last year. It was initially the German artist Kim Petras who was supposed to be on the song, but last week the news came that she didn’t have the opportunity to perform anyway.

Leony – whose real name is Leonie Burger – therefore took over the place.
