Following Saturday’s Premier League match, Burnley has published a statement in which the club states that it is working with the police to identify and punish those involved.
It was towards the end of the game that things boiled over for the Burnley patriots when Zeki Amdouni scored from a penalty to equalize at 1-1 at Old Trafford.

Rude chants and gestures, apparently to remind United supporters of the 1958 Munich plane crash, were among the ingredients in the away stand.
In images spread on social media, there is one Burnley supporter in particular who is obviously making flying movements with his arms, and the same man is allegedly shouting “Munich”, according to the British press.

– We are aware of the offensive images currently circulating on social media from the away section at Old Trafford. Tragedy-related gestures and singing are completely unacceptable and Burnley Football Club has zero tolerance for it, the club writes, adding:
– We will continue to work with the police in Greater Manchester and Lancashire and with Manchester United to be able to identify and prosecute those responsible.
23 people lost their lives when Manchester United’s plane crashed on its third attempt to take off from the runway in Munich in 1958, among them eight United players and three other club employees. The team was on its way home from a European Cup match in Belgrade when the accident happened.
