– I apologize

The women, standing in front of the prime minister’s official blue background screen, are holding up a sign with the text “Finland”, writes the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

– I apologize. The photo should not have been taken, says Marin at a press conference on Tuesday afternoon.

– The pictures were taken on the Sunday after Ruisrock, after we had taken a sauna and swum. One of the pictures is not factual. I apologize for the photo that should not have been taken, she says.

Ruisrock is a rock festival that was held from July 8 to July 10 in Turku, Finland.

According to Marin, the photo, which is of two Finnish influencers, originates from her only private party at Villa Bjälbo this summer. She further says that the party participants did not stay indoors in Villa Bjälbo, with the exception of the toilets on the first floor.

– We have not stayed inside Villa Bjälbo. I closed all the doors myself, she says.

Negative drug test

The Finnish prime minister gained international attention after a party video of her appeared on social media last week. The video shows Marin dancing and singing with friends at a private party this summer.

Marin was accused of drug abuse by several Finnish opposition politicians, which resulted in her voluntarily taking a drug test on Friday last week.

The test result, which was ready on Monday, was negative. Marin has received both criticism and support after the party video became public knowledge.
