It was as everyone thought: Apple launched new iPad models today, including a brand new iPad Pro.

You can get it as 11-inch or as 13-inch. And it is only half a centimeter thick, thus qualifying it as Apple’s thinnest product.

But being thin doesn’t prevent it from being fast: Apple actually surprised by incorporating not the M3 chip, as one might think, but a brand new M4 chip. Twice as fast as its predecessor is what you should remember about this. And now with support for accelerated ray tracing.

The screen is also interesting: not only does it come as a double OLED solution, but it can also be obtained with a nano-texture such as the large Pro Display XDR. If you need the greatest color fidelity.

The screen therefore comes in an eleven- and thirteen-inch model.

The front-facing camera is now 12MP, and is placed in the middle so that FaceTime calls show that you are looking into the camera and not to the side as before.

There’s a more high-resolution camera on the rear block, along with a LiDAR scanner and a TrueTone flash. As expected, you can shoot ProRes video with this beauty.

Apple has found space for four speakers in the case, as well as, of course, the magnetic connector to hold an Apple Pencil Pro in place, as well as a Magic Keyboard. Both now have haptic feedback.

The new thing about this pen is that it has a built-in gyroscope, so you can rotate the pen to control an interface on the screen, as well as a pressure sensor that lets you squeeze the pen to activate context selection.

The keyboard has also been improved. The basic principle is the same as before: The tablet is held magnetically, “floating” up. What’s new is a new row of function keys for controlling brightness or volume, in addition to an aluminum hand rest and a trackpad with a glass surface. In sum, this should feel largely like a MacBook in terms of materials and experience.

The new iPad Pro is available from 15.5. but can be ordered already now. The price is from NOK 14,490 for the 11-inch, and NOK 18,990 for the 13-inch. But don’t stop there: You can max out the storage space with 2TB, add nanotexture glass and 5G – then you’ll reach NOK 32,690 for the 11-incher. The same exercise with the 13-incher lands at NOK 37,190. And then there was pen and keyboard, then…
