The main negotiations between the Norwegian Aviation Technician Organization (NFO) and NHO Luftfart have broken down.

This is what NFO writes in a press release on Tuesday evening.

NFO says that the parties have not been able to reach an agreement in the negotiations, which they believe are about “members’ fundamental rights”.

– Norwegian aviation is going through a challenging time in the face of an announced shortage of aircraft technicians and NHO Luftfart is engaging in union-busting in the negotiations. NFO is determined to find constructive solutions, but sees a need to use Riksmekler in an attempt to reach an agreement with NHO Luftfart, writes manager Jan Skogseth in a press release.

Negotiator at NHO Luftfart, Ragne Eikrem, has been presented with Jan Skogseth’s allegation of union busting. To Nettavisen, Eikrem does not wish to comment on the allegations, or anything else related to the negotiations in general.

The Norwegian Aviation Technician Organization is an employee organization of aircraft technicians for aircraft technicians and has around 500 members from several of the airlines and maintenance organizations in Norway, according to the organisation’s website.

Accused of union busting – answers

At around 10.30 p.m., the managing director of NHO Luftfart, Erik Lahnstein, also confirms to Nettavisen that the negotiations have broken down.

Lahnstein says they will seek assistance from the National Ombudsman and take up the case with a new lease of life in due course.

– We have to state that unfortunately there is a certain distance between the parties and that we were unable to reach an agreement, as we had hoped, he says.

– What do you say to the claims that you engage in union busting?

– We are a serious employers’ organization and are concerned with acting in an orderly manner towards our trade unions. We do not recognize ourselves in that description, Lahnstein replies.

And continues:

– We look forward to sitting down to discuss NFO’s concerns.

– We must reach that goal

Lahnstein does not want to speculate on what kind of consequences a possible strike could have for aviation-

He says NHO Luftfart has one goal in mind, namely to reach an agreement.

– We are clearly focused on succeeding in reaching an agreement through mediation. We will reach that goal..

The announcement of the breach comes the day after LO Stat and Spekter broke off their negotiations in the wage settlement for 900 employees in Avinor.
