Domestic news

Dead person found at Skotfoss:

The police confirm that a person has been found dead in the Meierelva at Skotfoss in Skien.

The volunteer search team found a dead person approximately 15 meters from shore at 7pm on Thursday evening.

Relatives of a missing 35-year-old have been notified of the discovery, according to incident leader Kim Stokke.

On Friday morning, operations manager Tommy Bjerkholt Eriksen told NRK that it is very likely that a missing 35-year-old man has been found.

– We can say that it is a male person. We now know with reasonable certainty who it is, i.e. the person’s ID.

At the same time, he says that the police cannot confirm that it is the same person.

The next of kin have been notified of the discovery. That’s what NRK writes.

Brenna and Tajik: – We will break the backs of the gangs:

Labour’s Tonje Brenna and Hadia Tajik are launching several measures to combat gang crime, including tougher sentences, more police and confiscation of assets.

– We see an unacceptable development where we read almost daily about shootings and gang-related episodes, especially in the capital, but also elsewhere. It has almost become more the rule than the exception to read about it every day. We shouldn’t have it this way. We are going to break the backs of the gangs and gang development now, while we are still in a relatively early phase, says Ap’s justice policy spokesperson in the Storting, Hadia Tajik, after an increasing number of gang-related cases of violence in recent months.

That’s what VG writes.

SV will make Temu more expensive – and Fretex cheaper:

SV will make it more difficult to order goods from the other side of the world. At the same time, it will be cheaper to go to second-hand shops. Now they are taking the case to the Storting.

– It makes zero sense that goods produced in China are cheaper than short-traveled goods, says SV’s fiscal policy spokesperson Kari Elisabeth Kaski to NTB.

She points out that we currently have a duty exemption on clothing of up to NOK 3,000.

– In practice, we have customs regulations in Norway which mean that cheap chains such as Temu and Wish are not covered, and therefore become a much better alternative for people than used chains such as Fretex, for example, she says.

She warns that SV will shortly put forward a proposal in the Storting to:

  • Reduce VAT on second-hand purchases
  • Remove “the environmentally hostile duty exemption on fast fashion”
  • Reduce the VAT on repairs
