Two weeks after the triple murder at Torpo in Ål, the Slaatten family’s detached house is still blocked off. Securing traces of what the police have said is being investigated as three murders and one suicide has for the time being ended. Nevertheless, the police do not want to release the crime scene.

– The investigation continues in full. Information may emerge that means we have to carry out new investigations in the home, says police attorney Ann Iren Svane Mathiassen to Dagbladet.

The police: – Not sure we will get an answer

More finds – no answers

One of the case’s biggest mysteries is still why none of the three victims woke up when the shots were fired. The police have stated that they were found in separate bedrooms.

But nothing has so far indicated that the victims themselves or any of the neighbors heard anything along the way, from the time the shots began to be fired until the four were dead. This despite the fact that the police have stated that a silencer was not used on the weapon that was used.

– There are no findings at the scene that have so far given us answers, either when it comes to why they did not wake up or what the motive might be, says Mathiassen.

– Know what he bought

The accused’s movements in the run-up to the murders have been central to the work, and have shown, among other things, that he made purchases at a local pharmacy the night before the triple murder.

The purchase is among the findings the police have reviewed, but according to Mathiassen, nothing has come to light here either that gives them an answer as to what or why the three victims have not woken up from gunshots.

– We know what the accused bought at the pharmacy, but do not go out with this. It has also been central to collect health information for the whole family. We have done that, and we have received what we have asked for so far. There is nothing in this information that gives us an answer to the motive or substantiates what has happened, says the police attorney to Dagbladet.

Waiting for blood test results

The preliminary autopsy report for the four people was ready before Easter, but the police are still waiting for the toxicological test results. This will provide information on whether the three victims were drugged prior to the murders – which in turn could provide answers as to why they did not wake up to the sound of gunshots.

The theory has been central to the police, as one of several. However, Mathiassen does not want to go into which other theories are central.

On Wednesday, Dagbladet was in contact with the accused’s defender, lawyer Sidsel Katralen. She does not wish to make further comments on the matter at this time.

Nor does public assistance lawyer Helge Hartz, who represents the three victims Signe (18), Sander (22) and Ingunn Slaatten (53), wish to comment on the case beyond what has been said previously.
