POLITIHUSET (Nettavisen): Oslo’s Deputy Chief of Police states that the security situation is still unclear after the attack in Oslo, but that there is no indication that there will be more incidents.

– It is important for us to keep the audience up to date. We are now working with large resources and to ensure security. This is important for us, because we still have a confusing situation. We have no clue or information at this time that more incidents will occur, she emphasizes. It is a large apparatus that is in swing now. We are in dialogue with several actors, so that events that are carried out are carried out in a safe and good way, said Deputy Chief of Police Cecilie Lilaas-Skari in the introduction.

And she added:

– I want to use the opportunity to praise the audience. Many made an important contribution when the incident happened, but many have also contacted with tips and information. People must not hesitate, if they have any information for us.

Massive effort

Police attorney Børge Enoksen talked about that they have a large apparatus at the moment, and that the focus has been on taking good care of the survivors of the two deceased.

– It is a terrible situation for the survivors, and the police have a duty of confidentiality, as long as they have not agreed to publish the names. We therefore ask the press to take this into account, said Enoksen.

The police chief could also confirm that terror suspect Zania Matapour has not been questioned yet.

– The accused’s background is important to us. It is absolutely central to uncovering the reason for the action, knowing his background. This will also help us to find out if he has collaborated with others on this incident. In collaboration with his defender John Christian Elden, he has also agreed to an office business, Enoksen said.

Hypotheses

This means that the request for custody is not processed in a court hearing. It is common when the accused agrees to imprisonment.

Enoksen said that several hypotheses are still being worked on.

– Hate crime is one of them, but we are working to get him to explain himself. He has so far not wanted to cooperate with an expert in connection with forensic psychiatry, the police attorney said.

The police attorney also stated that the accused will be transferred to a prison during the day.

Interrupted the interrogation

It was announced earlier today that the interrogation of Matapour had started at 12 o’clock on Sunday, but just over half an hour later the interrogation was interrupted. On Saturday, the interrogation was also interrupted, because the terrorist accused would not accept the recording of the interrogation.

– The accused’s background and acquaintances are an important part of the investigation. Another important part is to clarify whether the accused may have collaborated with others about the shooting in Oslo, the Oslo police have written in a press release.

The terrorist investigation is in full swing, the police warn. Significant resources are set aside to carry out what is called a project-based investigation. The police have set up their own groups that will go through video, questioning of witnesses, questioning of accused, digital tracks, crime scenes and forensic investigations.
