Angelina Jordan: – Grew up in front of people’s eyes

It has been eight years since Angelina Jordan (16) touched the whole of Norway when she sang to victory in «Norwegian talents».

At that time she was only eight years old. She is now 16 and lives in Los Angeles, where she works with music. For the first time in three years, she is back in the country she grew up in, and meets See and Hear before she goes on stage on “Allsang på grensen”.

– It’s been so long since I’ve been here now, it’s so nice to be here again! I have many good memories from here, she says about being back in Norway.

Since recently she says that she has worked a lot with music, and that she is working on her first album which consists of music she has written herself.

– I write deep songs, it’s about storytelling for me. A little about love and such, she says and giggles a little before she adds that she draws inspiration both from her own life and from people around her.

– The listeners would like to hear what the text is about, the artist continues.

Grew up on stage

Since his career took off after “Norwegian Talents”, Jordan has focused on a career in music.

– I almost grew up in front of the eyes of people and on stage, says the young, but still very experienced artist.

In 2020, she signed with the record company Republic Records, and there she is in good company. The record company also houses artists such as Taylor Swift (32), The Weeknd (32) and Stevie Wonder (72).

Already when she was eight years old, she was also predicted to become “the new Amy Winehouse”, wrote the Daily Mail then.

Jordan has got dedicated fans who follow her throughout her career – obviously also to Halden. During her performance on “Allsang på grensen” must have been several who traveled from other parts of the world to watch what was to be her first appearance in several years.

Outlines their own clothes

There has been a lot of curiosity associated with the young girl with the big voice. The 16-year-old tells Se og Hør that she does a lot of “ordinary things” besides music.

– I do a lot of other things too. I love hanging out with friends and I am very close to my family. Especially my little sister, she’s the best.

It is already known that Jordan is a creative girl, and that she both draws and paints a lot when she is not working with music. Now she reveals that she is also interested in fashion and outlines her own clothes.

– I love fashion, and tend to draw how I want my clothes. Sometimes I get a specially made dress or suit according to the drawings. So I sketch some of my own things, she says.

She elaborates that what she wears represents her music and who she is on stage. That is one of the reasons why clothes are so important.

Still, it is the music that is closest to her heart, and she says that she is grateful for the opportunity she has been given.

– It is an honor to have this opportunity when I am so young. That people want to listen to my music is the biggest thing that has happened to me.

She is aware of her great responsibility, and says that it means a lot to have a voice for people.

– I want to give back and help others.
