iharstad: On the second movable day off in May – Christ’s Ascension Day – it is not likely that we will be able to enjoy the day outdoors with the sun shining.

A low pressure is moving in over Norway and causing precipitation in almost the entire country.

The only people who can enjoy the sun on their day off are the people of Eastern Finnmark.

The precipitation was expected to start in small amounts at 03.00 on the night of Thursday, and to increase throughout the day. There are also reports of light winds and light breezes from the south and up to light breezes in the evening – then from the west – with gusts of up to 10 meters per second.

NRK Troms and Finnmark reports that there will be precipitation, low temperatures and wind – and a yellow danger warning has therefore been issued for snow, snow drifts and slush on the mountain passes in northern Norway.

The snowfall is expected from Thursday evening, and will hit both Nordland and Troms at heights of 300-400 meters above sea level. During the night to Friday, 10-15 centimeters of snow is expected.

Little improvement

However, the weekend brings some sunshine.

– There will be a bit more changeable weather and wintry elements, but from Sunday onwards it may appear that there will be a rise in temperature there as well. Particularly in Nordland, there may be some pleasant temperatures on Sunday and Monday, says the meteorologist.
