The oil city is struggling with aviation fuel: – Unbelievable that it works

--

On Tuesday night, a message went out to all planes that were to land at Stavanger Airport Sola that there are restrictions on fuel.

– No aircraft that land at Stavanger Airport will now be refueled, says airport director Anette Sigmundstad at Stavanger Airport Sola to TV 2.

Only ambulance planes and rescue helicopters are getting fuel on Sola right now.

The airport director does not know what the cause of the problems is, but says that they are working hard to find out.

– It is unclear to us what the cause is. We are working with the operator to find out, says Sigmundstad.

She adds that it is not common for them to have problems with fuel delivery.

John Grøtte (70) was one of many who were affected by the fuel shortage on Tuesday.

He was on the plane from Malaga home to Stavanger when the captain could inform them about the problems.

The plane he boarded was to return to Spain, and therefore had to fly to Haugesund to refuel before they could land on Sola.

– It is incredible that it is possible, at one of Norway’s largest airports, to run out of petrol. Annoying to get an extra unnecessary trip because of this, says Grøtte.
