A sharp price increase at the municipality’s charging points, which in many cases makes it more expensive to charge than to fill with fossil fuel, was adopted by Oslo City Council on Wednesday. – With these charging prices, we do not recommend people in Oslo who depend on street charging to buy an electric car, says general secretary Christina Bu of the Electric Vehicle Association.

– Can just forget the climate target
If you charge an older electric car with a consumption of 2 kWh per mile, and which charges with a maximum output of 3.6 kW on a charging outlet that can deliver 22 kW, you will get a fuel cost of NOK 34 per mile, according to the association.
– Oslo municipality can simply forget about reaching its climate goal of removing all polluting cars from the roads with this policy, says Per Maltun, head of the Oslo and Akershus electric car association.

According to the Electric Vehicle Association, Oslo municipality justifies the increase with the increased electricity prices and that they must charge the market price for charging.
– We are now asking for access to the case documents to be able to see the background figures and see how the municipality calculates such hefty prices as this, says Bu.
