Nicoline Devik lived with years of pain:

--

Nicoline Devik (25) is known to many from her role as Mimmi in the drama series “Delete Me”, or as an influencer with a committed voice in the OnlyFans debate.

– I was in shock

In April, the 25-year-old was hospitalized to remove what she suspects is endometriosis, an operation she had to fight for for many years.

– Passed out on and off

It was Romerikes Blad that first mentioned the case.

– It actually started when I got my first period as an 11-year-old. I was in extreme pain and taking Paracet didn’t help. It’s brutal how much you sometimes have to struggle before you get help, says Devik to Se og Hør.

She describes intense pain over several years.

– There are extreme cramps. Now the pain has taken over. It sits in the back, in the legs, in the whole stomach. It hurts so much just to go to the bathroom. It feels like someone is ripping your guts out, explains the influencer, and continues:

– I lived with my brother at one point last year. He saw this and was terrified. I was lying there freezing cold and sweating. It was so brutal. Mom brought the strongest of painkillers. I tried so much but nothing helped. And when I get to the emergency room, will I be told that I have to take a Paracetamol?

Began to doubt

Over the years, Devik has visited a number of emergency rooms and hospitals, but the influencer can say that she has only been told that it is normal to have pain.

Breakup: – Single life is good

It has made Devik doubt his own experience.

“Is there something seriously wrong with me?”, “Am I imagining this pain?” and “Do I have such a damn low pain threshold?”, are among the questions she has asked herself in recent years.

– But I have been lying and writhing in pain and passing out now and then. And that’s not normal. And I’ve really just realized that now it’s enough.

Bleeding for over half a year

The 25-year-old says that she has been referred in several different directions, and has tried several measures. Including hormonal contraception.

– I tried that, but I ended up bleeding for over half a year with constant pain. So it has taken all the energy and spark out of me. But I’ve thought, “OK, I’ll keep trying, because this is definitely going to happen.” But eventually it goes beyond the psyche. You become mentally exhausted, explains the 25-year-old.

In the end, Devik was referred to Ullevål, where she described her symptoms and asked to be considered for surgery. It is now nine days since the influenza patient underwent the operation.

– How are you right now?

– I feel quite a lot better. I’m starting to recover, but I’m still a little tired. I notice that it stings and hurts a little in the stomach, but that is natural after an operation.

– You have to scream

Devik is now waiting for an answer to what kind of findings were made while she was lying on the operating table. She hopes her experience can contribute to women in the same situation continuing to fight to get the help they need.

– Thought I was going to die

– When it is taken so frivolously that you are told to just take a Paracet, then there is something wrong with the whole system, not me. And when it has emerged that more people are experiencing such pain, I understand that “hell, I haven’t been crazy. This is real.”

– I think many people are ashamed. And wonder how they will manage to continue their lives if you are in so much pain.

For those in the same situation, she has the following advice:

– You must stand your ground and take responsibility for your own health. I was about to give up, and then I was sternly told by an acquaintance who works as a nurse that “Nicoline, you must scream for help”.
