On 8 May 1945, Norway became free again after five years of occupation by Germany.

– The overflight was made by ten F-35 fighter jets, which have flown here from Ørlandet in connection with liberation and veterans’ day, says press officer in the Norwegian Armed Forces, Aleksander Engborg Hage, to VG.

On 8 May we celebrate freedom and honor Norwegian veterans from the Second World War until today’s international operations, writes the Norwegian Armed Forces on their website.

One person who got to see the unusual view over the center of Oslo was Ulrik Øen Johnsen.

– A powerful view of Oslo, he says to VG.

Part of the celebration and commemoration was therefore fighter jets that flew over and past the center of the capital. This happened in connection with a commemoration at Akershus fortress.
