Arendal: – The house vandalized: – Disgusting

– There is a thick layer of powder everywhere. It has spread over the entire first floor. Into the living room, the kitchen and up the stairs to the bedrooms, Amalie Kollstrand tells Dagbladet.

Both she and her partner Erik Johan Tellefsen Lindøe are politicians for the Conservative Party in Arendal. However, neither they nor the police believe that the incident is politically motivated.

– We hope it’s accidental, but we think it’s disgusting. You don’t just randomly walk by with a fire extinguisher. So even if this is not politically motivated, this has been done by someone who wants to do something stupid to others.

It was Agderposten that reported the case first.

Letterbox

The politician couple were at the cottage when they received a phone call from Kollstrand’s mother on Saturday. She stopped by the house where she discovered some white powder on the outside, and locked herself in to check.

The weekend at the cottage was cut short after the phone call from the mother.

– At first we thought it was about flour or something like that, but when we saw the scale we realized that there had to be stronger cases.

Kollstrand and Lindøe live in an older house, in the middle of a cul-de-sac, together with their two children. There is a letterbox in the front door.

– We thought it was nice, and get the newspaper through the letterbox at weekends. We don’t intend for it to be used for anything malicious.

But it is precisely through the letterbox that the perpetrator or persons got the powder, which is believed to come from a fire extinguisher, into the house.

A used device has also been found nearby, the couple say.

After doing some research, the couple quickly found that such powder is difficult to remove from textiles, such as sofas, jackets, shoes and carpets. It can also destroy electronics.

On Monday, someone from the insurance company will come to look at the damage.

– There is so much powder that we didn’t want to dig too much. I think it will be quite a big clean-up job, says Lindøe.

The couple want to tell about what has happened to show how much destruction what is apparently a rampage can create.

– Our house is uninhabitable, so I hope that it shows that this is not something you should do for fun, they say.
