The Norwegian women’s 4X400 meter relay team is ready for the Olympics in Paris after they ran into second place in their heat during the WC relays in the Bahamas last night.

Sunday 5 May at 08:50

Josefine Tomine Eriksen. Amalie Iuel, Lakeri Ertzgaard and Henriette Jæger made up the Norwegian team.

The Norwegian team ran in a time of 3.26.89, which is a new Norwegian record. The four-leaf clover beat the previous record solidly: It was set in 2022 and was 3.28.58.

Eriksen ensured that Norway led after the first change. From there on, the USA took over, and the Norwegian girls fought an intense duel against Belgium in the battle for second place.

But both Iuel, Ertzgaard and Jæger kept the Belgian team behind them and can now look forward to participation in Paris.

The first two in the heat qualified directly for the final – and get a direct pass to this summer’s Olympics in Paris.

It is the first time Norway has a female relay team in the Olympics and the first time in 4×400 meters for any gender, writes the blog Athletics1.

The WC final takes place on the night of Monday Norwegian time.
