In a garage in Asker, the stage is set for tonight’s spring for the girls of the Russian group “Sherrox”.

– It’s a bit of a fun name then, since we are wandering Russians, explains Mathilde Nilsen Kjøsnes (18).

The name is a mix of “She Rocks” and the practical shoe Cherrox.

The “Sherrox gang” does not have a bus, but that does not mean that they are without a place to be. Kjøsnes has opened the family’s garage for the Russian era.

– All our friends are welcome here and we can hang out here as much as we want, she says.

Join us inside the garage:

Kjøsnes tells VG that there was no alternative for her to be on the bus.

– We still wanted somewhere to be, she says.

At the suggestion of his parents, the 18-year-old therefore decided to take matters into his own hands. She wanted to make a Russian garage.

– The idea came from someone I know in Trondheim, and I think it sounded really cool, she says.

After several rounds of high-pressure washing, and some old furniture, the empty garage was transformed into the gang’s new meeting point.

It was The messenger who mentioned the matter first.

Almost free

They have borrowed the sound box from the neighbour, furniture, tablecloths and decor they already had.

– So this garage has cost us practically nothing, says the 18-year-old.

Kjøsnes believes that this is simply a win-win situation, both for her and the family.

– Then we don’t have to disturb them inside, and we always have somewhere to be.

The garage is used for both spring, party and night. The group, which consists of 22 girls in total, can tell of several evenings with a good atmosphere.

The girl group goes to Rud upper secondary school in Bærum. Amid many schools with a strong bus culture, Rud stands out, according to the Russian himself.

– There are no Russian buses at our school, says Marie Charlotte Haugen (18).

– Our arena

The Russian group consists of music, dance and drama students. For that reason, they haven’t had time for the Russian bus, and the delays it requires.

– But now the garage has become our arena, just as the bus is for other drunks, says Haugen and adds:

– We are very lucky to have it.

All the girls eagerly say that they are grateful for the garage, and that Mathilde and her family made this possible.
