“Hilde Tonne has today notified the board that she wishes to resign from her position as soon as a successor is in place,” writes Statnett in a press release on Thursday.

Tonne has been CEO of Statnett since March 2021.

– There have been some intense years with major restructuring of the company, and I have come to the conclusion that it is a natural time for me to pass on the baton, says Tonne in the message.

Statnett is responsible for building and operating the Norwegian power grid.

– I have greatly appreciated working with the important tasks and responsibilities that Statnett has, and all the skilled employees in Statnett, but now the time has come for me to take on new challenges, Tonne continues.

Tonne will continue at Statnett until an acting or new CEO is in place, the message says. The board will “soon” start a process to find a replacement.

– Hilde has done a great job for Statnett and in preparing Norway and the Norwegian power system for the transformation needed to meet the climate challenges and to secure power for future industry, says Statnett chairman Nils Kristian Nakstad.

Before Statnett, Tonne worked, among other things, as technology and research director at Hydro Oil & Energy, in various executive vice president positions at Telenor Group and as executive vice president for innovation at Ramboll Group.
