– This is a person who is physically capable of going far. That is why we want to go out widely with a wanted list – because he may have gone far, says Lars Skår Dahl, incident leader at the Agder police district, to Fædrelandsvennen.

On Thursday morning, a search operation was launched for a missing man. The man lives in Straiskleiva in Kristiansand.

This road is the starting point for the search operation.

– We are looking for a 77-year-old demented man. He was last seen on Wednesday 1 May, says Dahl.

Police dogs

Operations manager Arve Myklebust says that five police dogs have been called out. The police use a drone in the search operation. Volunteers are also called out.

– We are searching in the Straiskleiva area where he lives. But it is difficult to know where to put the pressure because we have little information, says Myklebust.

– Can go far

The man says that the missing person likes to go for walks. He must be in good physical shape.

– It has been a good number of hours since he was last seen, but we are starting to look for where he lives. And we drive along motorways where he can walk, says Myklebust.

The police are concerned that something happened to the man while he was out for a walk.

Larger crews from the police are involved in the search operation.

The police want feedback on 02800 if anyone has seen the man in the period from Wednesday afternoon until now.

The man is described as slim and approximately 180 centimeters tall. He has white hair.

The police do not know what kind of clothes he was wearing.
