Thirteen employees are affected and have to leave for the day.
The Danish interior brand is closing the doors to its store in Hegdehaugsveien in Oslo.
“It has been a pleasure to run the store here in Oslo, but after 15 good years we have now decided to close it. We would like to thank you for over a decade together,” reads a note on the store’s front door.
“Hay has always been run with a focus on our dealers, and going forward we will focus on our strong, local dealers who have represented Hay in a fantastic way in recent years,” it continues.

Managing director Jesper Brøndum Petersen confirms to Børsen that all employees will be dismissed on the day.
– The shop is closed during the day and closed for good. Unfortunately, this means that all employees lose their jobs.
The employees are informed about the situation and the management is working to follow up the employees.
Online shopping will be among the challenges for the physical stores, which sell both interior items and designer furniture, and which now results in the Oslo store closing its doors. Now they want to focus on the flagship store in the Danish capital, in addition to other retailers in Norway.
The Norwegian market must have been demanding in recent years, largely because the Norwegian krone has become weaker.
– Norway has become an extremely exposed market for us who export to Norway, says the top manager to Børsen.
The Danish interior design brand was established by the married couple Rolf and Mette Hay in 2002. The Brandstore store in Oslo opened its doors in 2009.
