Two Norwegian frigates take part in the Dynamic Mongoose exercise.

Norway is fielding a submarine and the frigate KNM Roald Amundsen in the NATO-led exercise Dynamic Mongoose, an anti-submarine exercise taking place in the North Sea.

In addition, the frigate KNM Otto Sverdrup, which is currently part of NATO’s standing frigate force, is participating, writes the Norwegian Defense Forces in a press release.

A total of 15 vessels and six air units are participating in the exercise. It takes place in the North Sea between Norway, Iceland and the Faroe Islands and involves conducting effective anti-submarine warfare in demanding Nordic waters.

– We carry out an advanced training program which means that all participating nations and units are equipped for relevant challenges in today’s security policy picture. The cooperation with NATO allies in the maritime domain is an important component of NATO’s overall efforts to deter aggression, says Commander in the Navy, Flag Commander Trond Gimmingsrud.

The exercise lasts from 26 April to 10 May.
